Meet the Legacy Real Estate Team!
Ketchikan Pioneer, Jack Seabolt, founded Legacy's parent company Northway Realty in early 1970. Bud Elliot, another Alaskan pioneer, and his wife Rose, purchased Northway Realty in 1971 and incorporated. Bud operated the successful local real estate firm on Dock Street, downtown for 16 years.
In 1978 Bill Elberson joined Northway Realty, Inc. and ultimately purchased the company in 1987. Bill retired in 2020 after more than 40 years in SE Alaska real estate! Guy Mickel became part of the Northway Realty organization in 1987, with 10 years previous experience in both residential and commercial construction.
As partner owners, Bill and Guy built a new office at 2506 First Avenue in 1993. In 1995, Northway Realty Inc. was selected to join the Re/Max franchise network. Northway Realty, doing business as Re/Max of Ketchikan operated at this location for 24 years.
Guy Mickel became the Re/Max principal broker in 1997 and retired in 2020. Guy's enthusiastic involvement in everything from Ketchikan Little League baseball coach, well recognized fish slayer, church deacon, and the Alaska Real Estate Commission have reaped the benefit of his impeccable ethics, professionalism, and commitment to "staying on the high road." A better mentor to the balance of family and business, you'll never find.
Dinah Pearson joined Re/Max of Ketchikan in 2000 and became an associate broker in 2015. In 2019 she became the owner and principal broker of Northway Realty Inc. and in recognition to Northway Realty's impact and longevity in SE Alaska's real estate industry, Dinah rebranded the company to Legacy Real Estate Firm.
Joy Yalung joined the Re/Max of Ketchikan team in 2015. Joy is a licensed Realtor as well as Legacy Real Estate Firm's Top Producing Agent. She moved to Ketchikan from Hawaii with the US Coast Guard and quickly settled in to all the best things our island has to offer. She has quickly learned how to turn listing and selling properties into an adventurous career. Her clients can tell you, there isn't anything about real estate that Joy can't navigate!
In 2020, James North joined the Legacy crew. James brings with him a lifetime of Ketchikan experience as well as a love of SE Alaska. James and his family can be seen in musicals, plays, concerts, and art exhibits throughout Ketchikan's many talented Art Guilds. His involvement with First City Players has brought a fantastic vibe to the office with every new production! We can't wait to see what's next.
In May 2022, Kristina Hulse, became a new Realtor and began her career with Legacy Real Estate Firm. She is a lifelong Ketchikan resident and is well recognized, after just one year, as one of Ketchikan's best and brightest local agents. Her stellar work ethic, attention to detail, and knowledge of the market have made her a valuable asset to the Legacy team. Her enthusiasm is only out-matched by her hustle.
Although Debbie Karlson is new to the Legacy Real Estate Firm, she's a seasoned and experienced agent with years of Ketchikan real estate under her belt. She has an amazing local family with ties to just about every aspect of SE Alaska life. If you don't find Debbie in the office with Maple, her guiena pig, you'll find her on a boat, hiking a trail, or playing in a concert.
